Description
The work, inspired by street art, explores the battle cries of clever marketing campaigns according to a “must have” dictate of the industry. They arouse the need for luxury that – seen globally – only a small layer can afford. Sylvia Schramm shows a model from the catwalk but now in a different context. Like graffiti, the figure on the wall represents an indictment, underlined by the runway formed from words: MUST HAVE GLAMOUR. The contrast between need and neediness, melancholy and glamour is further emphasized by the matt/gloss technique. The synthetic resin painting applied by Sylvia on the surface plays with the reflection of the metal support plate, creating plasticity and luminosity.
