Description
The work “Marilyn” belongs to the group of works “It’s All About Love“, consisting of a total of 4 works, which are available in a limited edition of 5 pieces each, with black wooden frame. Thereby the title “It’s All About Love” is meant a little ironically. Gemstones are by far not necessarily a sign of love.
Sylvia Schramm plays here quite deliberately with opposites. “I was looking for the balance between glamour and coolness in these works.”
The chosen female stars seem rusty and contrast with the colorful gems. They are great women of film history and they all have some relationship with gemstones. The multi-faceted stones react to the incidence of light, as in certain places the shiny metal plate of the background reflects the light. The work in digital painting was manually processed with synthetic resin. As a result, the refraction of light from the stones becomes a spectacle of color and is tactilely tangible. The portrait recedes somewhat and yet personality and glamour remain in balance.
