Description
For the Hamburg artist Sylvia Schramm, Hamburg is at the center of world events – very much in the spirit of her husband’s grandfather. The historian Percy Ernst Schramm wrote the Hamburg book “Hamburg, Germany and the World” in the post-war years and gave back to the Hanseatic citizens the pride necessary for the reconstruction of their war-torn city.
The artist also has a very personal relationship with each of the sights she depicts. For example, the architecture office of her father-in-law, Jost Schramm (Schramm, Pempelfort, v. Bassewitz, Huperts), who died in 2001, built the Congress Center and Plaza Hotel in Hamburg.
