In terms of color, figure, shapes and skyline merge into a whole. This work is built in 3 dimensions and plays with contrasts and haptics. Soft drapery against folded metal, interwoven with the flat skyline in the distance. Warm gold against the coolness of the underlying silver aluminum. Hand-applied clear synthetic resin underscores the optical plasticity even plastically.
Sylvia Schramm draws us, like the model in the “Golden Fleece”, into the depths of this dazzling night.
Schramm’s artistic technique is Digital Painting, which she has developed into something unique using knowledge from painting. The motif is printed onto a metal plate using special, elaborate processes, creating a coexistence between substrate and color. The interplay between matte and sheen allows the viewer to literally feel the material and figurative, characterizing her impressive one-of-a-kind pieces. Clear synthetic resin was partially applied by hand and allows the optical plasticity to become tangible. Symbolically, to preserve the ephemeral, this work was framed “weighty” in industrial iron.
