Description
After there was the work “Hamburg Storm Drain”, of course there had to be a capital, “BERLIN, Storm Drain”. This work in square format, 100 x 100 cm, on metal looks “industrial” and the viewer recognizes from a distance a manhole cover the glowing coat of arms of Berlin carries. Only upon closer observation can be seen that everything consists of individual shapes that resemble butterflies. Nothing is what one thinks one sees. Colorful sea snails, sea slugs and other small, colorful animals emerge from the “holes”. They also change the association with the very purpose of “sealing” the sewer.
Technique
Schramms artistic technique is digital painting, which she has developed into something unique with the knowledge gained from painting. The motif is printed onto a metal plate by means of a special, complex process, whereby a Coexistence between substrate and paint is created. The interplay between matt and shine makes the viewer literally feel the material and figurative and characterizes her impressive unique pieces. Symbolically, in order to preserve the ephemeral, this work was “weightily” framed in industrial iron.
