Description
This work belongs to the series “Venus At Modern Age”. The depiction of a human angel was staged in a particularly impressive way by “Victoria Secret” and has already inspired Sylvia Schramm to create various works (series PARADISE, 2015). Is an angel today still the symbol of hope or the salvation of mankind? Schramm’s interpretation shows a strong, modern, female figure that unites many things in itself. Its wings are spread and its posture bold, it has the face of the Venus of Botticelli and looks compassionately and benevolently at the world. The sculpture is held in divine gold and radiates warmth and peace.
This angel seems to have landed on earth, which indicates a floor inspired by the Renaissance. In contrast, abstract graphic forms cut the background of light and shadow. The tension between the art-historical and modern elements of this representation and the play of color with the metal of the background exert a strong, almost heavenly attraction on the viewer.
